Our History
St. Petersburg native Joe Connell's dream of opening his own salon became a reality in 1978 with the launch of J.Con Hair Designs. Joe's sincere belief is that God gives each person their unique gifts and talents and that all blessings are from Him. Fueled by a passion for education and building strong client relationships, Joe fostered a culture that emphasized both technical skill and genuine connection. The salon's success was evident, prompting multiple location changes and expansions to accommodate their growing team and loyal clientele.
J.Con's commitment to innovation extended beyond its physical space. Joe's "No Limits" philosophy empowered stylists to reach their full potential, while the groundbreaking Rising Talent program provided invaluable training and support to new cosmetology graduates. These core values continue to shape the J.Con experience today.
In 2002, J.Con found its permanent home, offering a spacious environment with ample parking. This move further solidified their reputation as a leading salon in St. Petersburg. J.Con's dedication to excellence continued in 2022 with a successful merger with Aveda on 3rd. This partnership not only expanded their team with seasoned stylists, but also broadened the range of services offered.
Today, J.Con boasts a team of 80 passionate individuals dedicated to upholding the core values that have fueled their success: passion, care, excellence, trust, service, fun, and forgiveness.
